Anti-Gay Republican California State Senator, Roy Ashburn, Gets DUI After Leaving Gay Nightclub
Well once again we have another story of a self-loathing gay person who was a professed “Conservative Republican” California State Senator who was very out spoken on the Proposition 8, California Marriage Protection Act, that read, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”
Yes the Republican California State Senator, Roy Ashburn, who has “a long history throughout his political career speaking out on opposing and bashing gay rights,” was arrested in Sacramento early Wednesday morning for driving under the influence after a California Highway Patrol officer spotted his SUV weaving in and out of traffic.
According to CBS, Ashburn, a divorced father with four daughters, was with an unidentified male passenger. It's also being reported that he had just left a gay club in the Sacramento called, “Faces.”
Ashburn issued the typical Republican boilerplate apology when they are caught:
"I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me, my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate."
Well all I would have to say to Senator Roy Ashburn, “To Thy Own Self Be True.”

Yeah, when he was arrested, he tried the old, "Hey, Dooo you know who I am?" and flashed his id...and nearly feel out of his car. There was a young man in the car who was allowed to leave and has not been identified yet.
ReplyDeleteSome things you cannot cover up, like the sleazy grin on his face in the picture.
I would imagine that he is a 'good' christian man and that all he has to do about this 'sin' is to ask forgiveness. Then, he'll be back at it once again until the next fall from grace.
ReplyDeleteThat [c]hristian forgiveness gig is swell, isn't it?
Hello Microdot and Muddy,
ReplyDeleteAnother story that also comes to mind is of the former Congressman Robert Bauman, a conservative Republican from Maryland's Eastern Shore’s First Congressional District. A founding member of the “American Conservative Union” and “Young Americans for Freedom,” Bauman was elected to represent the First Congressional at the age of thirty-six, in a 1973 special election. He was re-elected in 1974, 1976, and 1978. But Bauman had a secret life, one that stood in marked contrast to his extreme-conservative, richly homophobic image.
He was a shouting angry conservative who became a featured speaker at Ronald Reagan’s Presidential Inauguration. There he was on national TV, giving a "Fire and Brimstone" speech touting the importance of Christian Family Values and the importance of stopping Liberals. A married family man with four children, touting that he represented a conservative district, but then who had to eventually reveal that he was gay but only after a set of circumstances.
Bauman started out by saying that….well accusing just about every Democrat from House Speaker Tip O'Neill to Attorney General Benjamin Civiletti for the leak. But whoever informed the FBI, the Bureau was determined to prosecute Bauman for what ended up being a charge of soliciting sex from a minor. (Yes, one of the Congressman's young lovers was sixteen.) Bauman ended up pleading guilty to the charge, both because it was true and to make it go away.
After being defeated by the Democratic Roy Dyson on his next election, Bob Bowman went to work as a lobbyist for gay rights lobbing firm in Washington D.C.
Incredible stuff! Only shysters need apply.
ReplyDeleteWatch...he'll pull the old "go to rehab to "cure" his homosexuality addiction" routine.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a special punishment for hypocrites like this. I'm in favor of a nice sound pistol whipping.
Gadd...every time I click on this blog, there is this dude with the smarmy grin on his face...
ReplyDeleteNo way I'd go out with him...maybe if he got a new toupe...
